The Association of Advertisers in Ireland (AAI), the national advocacy group representing the interests of advertisers, has appointed Geoff Codd, Marketing Director at Energia, as its new President, and Jennifer Power, Media Lead – UK & Ireland at McDonald’s, as Vice-President.
The organisation is the sole representative body for advertisers in Ireland, providing a voice for hundreds of advertisers and brands serving a diverse array of categories; from food and beverage to retail and telecoms, finance, pharmaceuticals and technology.
Geoff Codd takes up the role of President of the AAI for a two-year term. Working with the marketing team at Energia since 2008 and currently leading brand, marketing and communications strategy for the business, Geoff brings deep experience of building and sustaining strong brands in highly competitive and regulated markets. Geoff has previously served as a member of the AAI Board, underpinning his long-standing commitment to the advertising industry in Ireland.
Jennifer Power has been appointed Vice-President of the AAI, following several years of active involvement on the AAI Board. Jennifer is a senior marketing leader with extensive experience across a number of sectors and has worked as part of the marketing team at McDonald’s since 2018. In her current role as Media Lead – UK & Ireland, Jennifer is responsible for media strategy across multiple markets and has a strong track record of delivering growth through close collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Welcoming the appointments, Barry Dooley, Chief Executive of the AAI, said: “As we celebrate 75 years of the AAI, we’re delighted to welcome Geoff and Jennifer to their new roles with the AAI. Like so many other industries, advertisers have had to adapt in the face of rapidly changing economic circumstances, against an uncertain geo-political backdrop, and a number of challenges remain ahead.
As a result, we’re looking forward to having Geoff and Jennifer help spearhead our efforts to create an advertising environment that is transparent, responsible and accountable; one that can be trusted by the public, by advertisers and by legislators.”
Commenting on his appointment, Geoff Codd, President of the AAI, said: “Having previously served on the Board of the AAI, I’m very aware of the important work the association does to maintain and develop a vibrant advertising industry here in Ireland. I’m looking forward to working with all my colleagues at the AAI to champion Irish advertisers and brand marketers.”
Commenting on her appointment, Jennifer Power, Vice-President of the AAI, said: “I’m delighted to take up this role with the AAI following my work with the other Board members over the past few years.
Now more than ever, advertisers and brand marketers need to come together to ensure the sector continues to thrive. The AAI is central to these efforts and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues and our President Geoff Codd to achieve our aims.”
The Association of Advertisers in Ireland was established in 1951, to advance the commercial interests of advertisers by advocating for the right to responsible self-regulation and fair competition.
The AAI provides its members with a forum for intelligent exchange, access to a network of industry leaders and opportunities to shape policies that impact commercial communication.
